Senior appointment at directories provider to drive digital media
Yell Group has appointed Richard Hanscott as chief executive officer of Yell UK.
Hanscott will take up his new role on 18 July, reporting to Yell Group chief executive officer Mike Pocock.
Hanscott has extensive knowledge of the IT and telecommunications sector, particularly mobile. Most recently he held the role of chief executive officer of NEC Germany and VP Network Solutions NEC Europe. Prior to this he held senior sales and marketing roles at Orange.
Mike Pocock said: "Richard brings the skills and experience necessary to help drive our transition to a customer-focused digital media business. This new appointment reflects the importance of our UK business both in its own right and as a key contributor to the Yell Group. I welcome his arrival as we launch our new strategy."
Yell announced in February that it was restructuring its global operations and would focus on owning ‘local search’ as it aimed to defend its business from rivals such as Groupon and Google.
